Mediaite reported the campaign captioned one post by joking that Swift would be delighted. Not for long. Viewers soon saw a notice where the song had been: “The copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country.”
Who Pulled the Audio Is Still Unclear
Reuters said neither the White House nor a representative for Swift answered questions about the removals. TikTok’s rights system can block a commercial track automatically, so the notice alone doesn’t prove her team filed anything.
And Swift herself hasn’t commented publicly. She endorsed Kamala Harris in 2024, and during the 2020 race she posted that Trump was well aware voters didn’t want him in office. She’s said little about him since.

The legal question usually turns on licensing. Venues and campaigns often hold blanket performance licenses, but social video works differently. Sync rights, meaning permission to pair a song with footage, come from the rights holders directly.
The Trump and Swift Backstory
Trump has criticized Swift repeatedly, and after her Harris endorsement he wrote on social media that he hated her. Reuters noted he revisited the subject last year in another post questioning whether she was still popular.
The White House has used other Swift material too. An earlier TikTok post set images of the president to “The Fate of Ophelia,” a track from her album The Life of a Showgirl. That video drew heavy criticism online at the time.
